Law enforcement agencies in Chhatrapati Shambajinagar have taken a big leap in improving security & surveillance capabilities with the integration of drone technology into the Command & Control Centre. Moreover, this initiative is a major component of the Safe City Project carried out under the auspices of the Sambhajinagar Smart City Program. The move is focused on ensuring the safety of Sambhajinagar and retaining tranquility in the city. This program aims to enhance real-time surveillance activities, thereby guaranteeing a quicker response to incidents and restoring peace and harmony in the city.
The surveillance carried out by these drones will be displayed on big screens at the command and control units operated from the office premises of the police commissioner. Moreover, this centralized monitoring drone system developed by Enhansafe India Private Limited, a security system supplier based in Pune, will assist police personnel in responding to any contingencies in real time and avert the occurrence of any untoward incident.
Enhanafe has provided police personnel of Sambhajinagar with drones embedded with new features. They are fitted with quad systems, public announcement systems, searchlights, and drop mechanisms. These unmanned aerial vehicles can be connected to radio or smartphones.
Moreover, the law enforcement authority of Sambhajinagar has formed squads with every squad including 17 police stations & police headquarters in the city. Reportedly, these squads will operate drones for footage monitoring & surveillance. In the first half of 2024, the civic body administrator of Sambhajinagar provided the drones to the police commissioner of the city.
According to the civic body administrator G Sreekanth, the drones will prove to be game-changers for the city’s police. He announced that geofencing systems are used while designing these drones to ensure that the privacy of secured zones in Sambhajinagar is not violated. Furthermore, Sandeep Patil, the police commissioner of Sambhajinagar, told the media that the drones will help police in various aspects such as aerial reconnaissance, accurate investigation of crimes, proficiently managing traffic issues such as avoiding collisions & traffic jams, and crowd monitoring. He further informed the media that drones will assist police personnel in performing successful search & rescue operations and thwart attempts made by anti-social elements to create hostage-like situations in the Sambhajinagar.
